Minister

I am Liam Rutherford. I am from Cookstown, married to Eleanor and we have three children. I came to faith in Christ when I was 17 years old and really started to grow as a Christian through the influence of my home church and the Christian Union at QUB. After graduating I was employed by Bombardier (Shorts) for 3 years.

From 1996 to 2005 we served the Lord in the Philippines with OMF among the Manobo people. We were sent out as tribal missionaries and ended up establishing a radio ministry to reach the tribal peoples of central Mindanao. This ministry continues today and is run by the Manobo themselves. We returned home in 2005 - with three children - and I started to prepare for ministry within PCI.

I was called to Ballydown in March 2010.

Congregation

Ballydown Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. We are located on the edge of Banbridge with easy access from the A1.

We have just over 200 families connected with us - about 500 people. We have been meeting in our new building for three years now with its extra space and modern facilities.

Our worship service is at 10:30am on Sunday and you are very welcome to join us. Come casual - we do! The important thing is that we meet with God in worship and know his presence in our lives.

Our Vision

Our vision is learning to be more like Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by responding to God's call to follow Jesus.
Our vision is that every member of our congregation will play their part in reaching the wider world for Jesus.
Our vision is to see our community find a whole new way of life in Jesus.
Our vision is to care practically, emotionally and spiritually for everyone in our congregation as a valued part of God's family in Ballydown.
Our vision is for us all to worship God from the depths of our hearts, praising Jesus for who he is in the power of the Spirit.
Our vision is to see our young people excited about following Jesus.

Our Mission

Reflecting Christ

Our mission is to reflect Christ's desires and character. We want people to see Jesus 'the Light of the World'. We are His lights reflecting His loving and life-giving qualities.

Reaching People

Our mission is to make disciples, as Jesus commanded. We want to find ways of making meaningful contacts with people in our community and to share God's love with them.

Renewing Lives

Our mission is to see God's Spirit take God's Word and transform lives. We want to see lives renewed as testimony to the power of the Gospel.
